Privacy Notice

Last updated June 14, 2026

Who we are

NorthSlate is operated by Digital Dusk Media ("we", "us", "our"). Digital Dusk Media is the data controller responsible for the personal data described in this notice. For any privacy question or request, contact us at digitalduskmedia@gmail.com.

What data we collect and why

Account data: email address, password (hashed), display name, and authentication identifiers when you sign in with Google. Used to create and secure your account and to provide the service under our Terms of Use (contract performance).

Production content you create: projects, shoot days, call sheets, equipment lists, notes, schedules, and any other information you enter into the app. Used solely to provide the service to you (contract performance).

Usage and device data: pages viewed, actions taken, browser, device type, approximate location derived from IP address, and similar telemetry. Used to operate, secure, debug, and improve the product (legitimate interests in running a reliable service).

Support communications: messages you send us by email and any information you include in them. Used to respond to your request (legitimate interests).

Payment-related data: when you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment details (card data, billing address, tax information) are collected and processed directly by Paddle. We receive a limited record of the transaction (customer ID, plan, status, billing dates, last four digits of the card) so we can grant access to paid features and show your subscription status. Used to perform the contract and comply with tax and accounting obligations.

Who we share data with

Service providers (subprocessors) who help us run the product, including cloud hosting, database, authentication, email delivery, and analytics providers. They process data only on our instructions.

Paddle.com Market Limited, our Merchant of Record, who processes all payments, subscriptions, taxes, invoices, refunds, and chargebacks on our behalf. Paddle acts as an independent controller for the payment data it collects directly from you. See Paddle's privacy policy at https://www.paddle.com/legal/privacy.

Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where reasonably necessary.

Authorities, courts, or other third parties where we are required to do so by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

How long we keep data

We keep account and production content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or irreversibly anonymise the associated content within 30 days, except where we are required to retain limited records (for example, transaction and tax records kept by Paddle and us for up to 7 years).

Backups containing your data are rotated and overwritten on a routine schedule.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, to withdraw consent, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. You can exercise most of these rights directly inside the app (edit profile, delete account) or by emailing digitalduskmedia@gmail.com. We respond within 30 days.

International transfers

Our hosting and subprocessors may be located outside your country, including in the United States and the European Economic Area. Where personal data leaves the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for our databases, access controls, and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to reduce risk and respond to incidents quickly.

Cookies

NorthSlate uses only strictly necessary cookies and local storage required to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (such as theme), and operate the checkout. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings.

Changes to this notice

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice.
